Rodent Control
Rodent control is carried out against rodents like rats, mice, moles and bandicoots. Controlling rodents is essential in the food industry and is extensively practiced in hotels, restaurants, hospitals, as well as residential areas. Rodent control includes inspection, trapping with various types of traps, rodent proofing the premises, environmental sanitation improvement and use of rodenticides.
1
Rats
People don't often see rats, but signs of their presence are easy to detect. Experience has shown that it is less time consuming to control rodents before their numbers get too high. Fewer traps and lesser baits will be required if control is started early. Rats eat and contaminate foodstuff and animal feed. They also damage containers and packaging materials in which food and feed are stored. For controlling rats indoors, using traps is best. When rodenticides (toxic baits) are used in structures, rats can die in inaccessible locations such as within walls or ceilings.
2
Bandicoots
Bandicoot rats are highly aggressive, emitting harsh grunts when disturbed. They can carry plague as well as typhus, leptospirosis, salmonellosis and rat-bite fever. Bandicoots can build up large fat reserves when food is abundant. These rats can be controlled in several ways. For instance on the farm, removal of weeds from the crop and from field edges means less cover for rats and less food before the crop ripens. Ploughing fields immediately after harvest breaks up rat burrows. In the cities, it is essential to keep food in places that are rat-proof.
Products
We use only water based chemicals which are odourless and very safe to humans. These are manufactured by large Indian as well as Multinational companies like Bayer, Rallis, FMC, etc. Some of the chemicals are as under:
Deltamethrin
Deltamethrin is a synthetic pyrethroid manufactured in various formulations (including emulsifiable concentrates, wettable powders, granules, and dusts for crack and crevice application) to control a wide variety of indoor and outdoor pests.
Fipronil
Fipronil is one of the newest names on the market for pest control, effective in the elimination of ants, roaches, termites, and other common pests.
Cypermethrin
Cypermethrin is commonly used as a crack and crevice or spot treatment for residual and contact control of spiders, ants, carpenter ants, scorpions, German cockroaches, ladybugs, carpenter bees, and yellow jackets.
Bifenthrin
Products with Bifenthrin can be applied in four basic areas. Indoors - including food-handling areas like restaurant kitchens. On and around building exteriors. Plants and shrubs Lawns.
Lambda Cyhalothrin
Lambda-cyhalothrin and other pyrethroids act as powerful poison to the central nervous system. Once poisoned, the insect's nerve cells become excited, causing paralysis and preventing normal feeding and grooming activities.
Glyphosate
Glyphosate is a broad-spectrum systemic herbicide that kills weeds and is especially effective against perennials. Glyphosate can be sprayed over plants or crops and absorbed through the leaves, injected into the trunks or stumps of trees, or broadcast.
